A Happy Handbanana

Upsettingly, the Pet in this illustration

 reminds me a lot of Handbanana:

If you're unfamiliar with Aqua Teen Hunger Force, therefore unclear on why this is upsetting, and in the mood to be upset:

NO.????:::::: LOITERING GO...HOME.?

This sign makes me so ::: . ?? HAPPY.???????.

It's in the window of a bodega near my apartment in NYC Chinatown where people are ALWAYS loitering.  It is the most loitered-in bodega I've ever seen.  You can barely go inside, there are so many guys in their twenties just standing in the doorway, shitfaced, shouting and leering at everyone.  It is a nightmare.  I like how this sign and its punctuation convey the shopowners' understandable incredulous exasperation about this situation.

Hope springs eternal

This sign just proves how unbending is the rule that all communications related to feminine hygiene must be bedizened with the iconography of springtime and freshness: Even though the content of the communication is the lack of availability of products to ensure said freshness, we still get an image of freshness -- standing in for actual freshness?  tiding us over with an image of future freshness?  teasing us with the elusiveness of freshness.  taunting us with the unattainable ideal of perfect freshness.

I love that "Temporarily" is bulleted.
